Shines Like Metallic

History

We purchased Shines Like Metallic (aka Shiney) in early 2015, and knew he was special at first sight. He was always quick footed, sensitive and had a strong dam line that drew me to him. I hold great respect for this particular line. The One Moore Roc genetics whose progeny include the great One Moore Spin. Shiney's mother Stylish in Time is a full blood sister to One Stylish Pepto and Stylish Unit. The line are all athletes and they breed on. Dam Stylish in Time was trained by Mark Buttsworth then shown by Heath Sinclair. Stylish in Time was sashed Toowoomba Futurity Champion in 2013. 

Shines Like Metallic was sent to Steve Smith to be broken at 22 months of age. Steve always said he was a good one and told us you can ride a lot of horses to feel a good one like him. After breaking he went to Phil Dawson’s to start his training and preparation for the 2018 NCHA Futurity and I was extremely happy with Phil’s program. Both myself and partner Ken Frost have full trust in Phil and his wife Bernie’s work as they are such genuine people to work with.

By Futurity time he was right on track but we didn't know how great he really was. After winning the 2nd Go Round and scoring well with three tough cows in the 1st Go Round we were nervous going into the final. Another confident performance saw him finish a very creditable 3rd in the 2018 NCHA Futurity, a result that made us extremely proud, I did actually cry with happiness.

Weeks later he became the 2018 DDCC Open Futurity Champion with a 7-point margin and highest aggregate. Victorian Open Futurity 5th (GR!-2nd). 2019 he was the leader of the NCHA going into the final and finishing 3rd, Reserve Champion at the Darling Downs Cutting Club Futurity Derby. The list now goes on.
